Check out this very true story ...

Once upon a time a girl wanted to travel the world. She dreamed of riding camels through red deserts and floating in ancient seas. Her eyes craved holy temples, her feet wanted to walk alongside red robed monks and her lungs craved crispy Himalayan air. She wanted to get lost in Paris and nibble cheese on a train as it flew through through the Italian Alps. Most of all, her heart craved a love that had been lost and buried in time. She moved through daily life with these quantum longings tugging beneath her skin. They made her itchy and uncomfortable. One lazy summer afternoon, tired of scratching at her raw skin, she fell into a strange vision while gazing at a tree. “Dear child,” said the tree. “Why so glum?” “I want more than this old backyard,” replied the girl with a scowl on her face. “I want to walk barefoot in sea foam. I want exotic foods. I want to see something new. I want get on an airplane and fly away!” The wise old tree chuckled so hard, its crispy brown leaves fell like confetti around the girl. “Why are you laughing?” Asked the girl. “Child, haven’t you noticed? Everything repeats. Every single thing you desire is already in this yard,” said the tree. “That’s impossible!” She replied. “Is it?” Asked the tree with a knowing smile. “Start looking. Deeply” A ringing telephone woke her from her dreamy state but the conversation stayed with her. She began looking for the very things she craved. An enticing new world unfolded before her. She realized the sky looked like the ocean, especially at sunrise and sunset when it turned all the colors of a coral reef. The clouds stacked up so high they looked like floating mountain ranges. She learned to make thick sweet European coffee and found exotic recipes and spices to create the smells and tastes of India and Nepal in her kitchen. The winter snow piled up like sand dunes around her house and the summer sun grew wild flowers and spiky Mediterranean herbs. She visited the bark of an old willow tree everyday that looked and felt just like elephant skin. She was so busy looking deeper and discovering new things she hadn't seen before that she didn’t even notice the airline ticket when it appeared in her mailbox. A few months later, she was wide awake and alert while sitting in predawn light the base of Mount Everest. The highest peak in the world was a quiet shadow looming before her. She became acquainted with the mountain. The two of them began to swapping secrets like old friends. She noticed three bright stars and laughed to herself just as the old tree had chuckled. Yes, of course, she thought. There is Orion’s Belt next to Everest. Just as it looks back home.

She recalled how she had longed to see new things. She had found the world in her own back yard and the world found her ...
