"Ghost Stories by the Fire" is my brand new monthly SPOOKY STORY SLAM event at Barrow's Intense Tasting Room!
Back in the long-ago-time (before the global plague) I was hosting a fabulous monthly event called Spirited Away Paranormal & Psychic Event. I gathered all my high priestess mamas, tarot card reading, psychic mediums, dancing oracles, esoteric drag queens and magical people to read and perform for the general public at Barrow's Intense on the last Tuesday of every month.
We rebooted Spirited Away in the outdoor courtyard space this past May, 2021. Barrow's bar manager Alex Haskell had a vision. He asked me to create an additional event where guests would tell ghost stories around the fire pit. Who doesn't LOVE a spooky story by crackling firelight with a delicious craft cocktail?
"Ghost Stories by the Fire" was born. Things fell into place faster than you can shuffle a deck of tarot cards. We decided to make it a Spooky Story Slam!
Last night, we had a pre-Ghost Story sound check. The sound guys gave me the cue, I went to the mic. I announced we were sound testing for next week. Guess what? People wanted to come up, share their spooky stories, odd fears, and strange happenings then and there!
We heard stories about ghostly leg touches and invisible tickley finger strokes (yikes!), someone spoke of a deep seeded fear of 80's special effect makeup a la Freddie Cruger (fear of makeup?!) and a heartbreaking true story of a young boy in Honduras who dreamed of his cousin's death a week before said cousin unexpectedly died.
People's willingness to share funny, creepy, and heartbreakingly, honest stories with us made my heart soar. So super excited about next week's event I can barely take it.
Here are the deets:
